Passengers and traders will have to take their troubles patiently. The reopening of the Douala International Airport scheduled for March 22, 2016 has been postponed to 1st April 2016 for a reason still unclear. This is a communication made by the director of the airport and sent to several stakeholders responsible on this airport platform, if one believes the lines of Economy Daily, on newsstands this Monday, March 21, 2016.

The director of the Douala International Airport indicates the complete and final opening of the airport will no longer take place as announced recently by the Minister of Transport through a press release. An opening track will take place over the period of March 22 to 24 hours (local time), April 1 at 7:00 (local time). This with a maximum length of 2300 meters off. By cons, "landing is prohibited on runway 12, as it is forbidden to take off on runway 30," as indicated by the Director of the International Airport of Douala.

Several companies operating under the sky Cameroon took measures concerning compliance with the above mentioned requirements. This is among other Air France, Brussels Airlines, and Camair-Co. "Dear passengers, the rehabilitation of the tracks from the Douala International Airport are extended to March 31, 2016. The operations of Douala airport are limited. The return to normal operations as of 1 April 2016, "says the company through a statement on its available website

Sources approached the airports of Cameroon (ADC) confirm the continuation of the work, but do not extend the reasons for the failure to meet deadlines. From 24 to 27 November 2015 already, a first closing was done in this airport because of the runway rehabilitation work. This second current closure was put into execution (initially) from 1st to 21st March 2016. This work is funded by loan from the French Development Agency (AFD)..
